Welcome to Storia ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of children and families who use our mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our AI-powered storytelling application designed for children ages 4-8.

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and Google Play's Families Policy. By using Storia, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Parents and guardians must create an account using Google Sign-In, Facebook Login, or email registration to use Storia. By creating an account and setting up a child profile, the parent or guardian provides verifiable parental consent for the collection and use of their child's information as described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Provided by Parents/Guardians

We may collect the following information with parental consent:

• Account information (email address for account recovery and communications)
• Child's profile information (first name or nickname, age range, reading level preferences)
• Content preferences (favorite story themes, topics, and interests)
• Subscription and payment information (processed securely through Google Play)

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use Storia, our integrated services automatically collect:

• Firebase Authentication: Account identifiers, IP address, and user agent strings for secure sign-in
• Firebase Firestore: Data you create within the app (tales, characters, preferences) stored in our cloud database
• Firebase Analytics: App interactions (features used, screens viewed, session duration), device type, operating system version, and language preferences
• Firebase Crashlytics: Crash logs, stack traces, device state at time of crash, and a Crashlytics installation identifier for stability monitoring
• Device information (device type, operating system version)
• Language preferences

2.3 Voice Input Data

Storia supports voice input to describe story ideas. Speech-to-text conversion is performed by your device's built-in speech recognition service (e.g., Google Speech Services). We do not record, store, or transmit any voice or audio data. Only the resulting text is used to generate story content. Please refer to your device manufacturer's privacy policy for details on how on-device speech recognition data is handled.

2.4 Information We Do Not Collect

Storia does not collect or transmit the following from child users:

• Android Advertising ID (AAID)
• SIM serial number or device phone number
• Precise geolocation data
• Biometric identifiers (fingerprints, facial recognition, voiceprints)
• Photos or videos from the device camera

3. How We Use Information

We use the collected information to:

• Generate age-appropriate, personalized stories using AI technology
• Customize content based on reading level and interests
• Process and manage subscriptions
• Improve app functionality and user experience
• Provide customer support
• Send important account notifications (with parental consent)
• Ensure child safety and content appropriateness
• Monitor app stability and fix crashes

4. AI-Generated Content

Storia uses artificial intelligence to create personalized stories, illustrations, and audio narration for children. Our AI systems are designed with child safety as a priority:

• All generated content (text, images, and audio) is filtered to ensure age-appropriateness
• We do not use children's personal information to train AI models
• Story prompts, character descriptions, and content preferences are sent to our cloud servers and processed via OpenAI's API to generate tale content. OpenAI processes this data under their API data usage policy, which states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models
• Story content is generated based on selected preferences and user-provided prompts; no persistent personal identifiers are included in AI generation requests

If you encounter any AI-generated content that you believe is inappropriate, you may report it through the in-app reporting feature or by contacting us at storia.application@gmail.com.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent children's personal information. We may share information only with:

• Service Providers: Firebase (Google) for app functionality and data storage, Google Play for subscription processing, and OpenAI for AI-powered story generation
• Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect the safety of children
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

All third-party service providers are contractually bound to protect children's data and comply with applicable privacy laws.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including:

• Encryption of data in transit and at rest
• Secure authentication mechanisms
• Regular security assessments
• Limited access to personal data
• Secure cloud infrastructure (Firebase/Google Cloud)

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide our services. Specifically:

• Account data is retained while your account is active, to deliver personalized tale creation and maintain your tale library
• Usage and analytics data is retained in aggregate form to improve app functionality and ensure content safety
• AI-generated content (tales, illustrations, audio) is retained as long as your account is active so you can access your tale library
• Upon account deletion, we will delete or anonymize all personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law

Parents and guardians have the right to:

• Review personal information collected from their child
• Request deletion of their child's personal information
• Refuse further collection or use of their child's information
• Update or correct their child's information
• Withdraw consent at any time
